Issued in 1975 by the Central Bank of Chile, this 5 Pesos banknote belongs to the “5 Pesos” series introduced shortly after the peso became Chile’s official currency. The obverse features a portrait of José Miguel Carrera, a national hero in Chile’s struggle for independence, set against a green on olive background and accompanied by the text stating the issuing authority and denomination.

The reverse depicts the Casa de los Carrera, a historic family residence associated with the Carrera family, rendered in a similar green palette. Both sides include bilingual inscriptions in Spanish.

Printed on cotton-based paper, the note includes a watermark of Diego Portales, a prominent statesman, which is visible when held against light. It bears the signatures of Pablo Baraona Urzúa (President of the Central Bank, 1975–1976) and Carlos Molina Orrego (General Manager, 1973–1985).
