The 5 Chon note, issued in 1988 by the Central Bank of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, represents one of the small-denomination banknotes of the period.
On the obverse, the design features the national emblem of North Korea, surrounded by traditional decorative motifs. The value appears prominently in Korean script and numerals.
The reverse shows a stylized industrial and agricultural scene, symbolizing the importance of self-reliance in production. Security features include a watermark with simple geometric patterns. The note measures 105 × 52 mm, printed on cotton-based paper.
