Description:
Issued by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (Hungarian National Bank) in 1989, this 50 Forint banknote represents one of the final issues of Hungary’s pre-transition currency series before the post-socialist reforms.
The obverse features a portrait of Ferenc Rákóczi II, the historic Hungarian noble and leader of the 1703–1711 uprising against Habsburg rule. It is surrounded by fine guilloche patterns, denomination numerals, and a watermark area, reflecting the note’s security and craftsmanship.
