The 20 Pesos banknote issued in 2018 by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (Banco Central de la República Argentina) is part of the “Argentina’s Native Fauna” series. This uncirculated note features the guanaco (Lama guanicoe), a native South American camelid, as its central motif. The obverse side showcases a vertical depiction of the guanaco, adorned with ornamental flowers and a silhouette of a kneeling guanaco with a latent image “RA”. The reverse side presents a panoramic view of the Patagonian steppe, the guanaco’s natural habitat, along with a map of Argentina, Antarctica, and the South Atlantic Islands. The note is printed on 100% cotton paper with a red color scheme and measures 155 x 65 mm. Security features include a color-shifting windowed security thread with a demetalized “$20 BCRA” inscription, a flower petal registration device, and a watermark of a guanaco with an electrotype “20”. The signatures on the note are those of Guido Martín Sandleris, President of the Central Bank of Argentina, and Marta Gabriela Michetti, President of the Honourable Chamber of Senators. This note was issued on October 3, 2017, and is still in circulation.
