The 5000 Dram banknote, first issued on December 25, 2018, by the Central Bank of Armenia, is part of the third series printed on a durable Hybrid™ substrate to mark 25 years of the national currency. It features a portrait of acclaimed writer William Saroyan against fragments from his “Pomegranates” story and book illustrations on the front, and the statue of Saroyan in Yerevan with a panorama of Baghesh—his ancestral hometown—on the reverse.
