The 50 Australes banknote issued in 1988 by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (Banco Central de la República Argentina) is part of the “Austral” series, which was in circulation from 1985 to 1991. This uncirculated note features Bartolomé Mitre, a prominent Argentine statesman and military leader, on the obverse. The reverse side depicts “Progreso”, a symbolic representation of progress, holding a torch and shield. The note is printed on paper by the Casa de Moneda de la Nación (Argentina) and measures 155 x 65 mm. It was issued under the signatures of Julio Alberto Piekarz (General Manager) and Juan José A.
