The 100 Florin banknote, issued on January 1, 2019 by the Central Bank of Aruba, is part of the acclaimed “Life in Aruba” vertical series that celebrates the island’s natural heritage. Printed on premium paper (148 × 74 mm) by Crane Currency, this uncirculated note features a green iguana at its center, a striped anole above, and an aloe plant beneath. The reverse side depicts Baile di Cinta ribbon dancers and traditional floor tiles.

The 2019 series introduced advanced security features including high-relief printing, color-changing ink, Motion Surface™ windowed thread, watermark of a burrowing owl, and parrot-head OVI ink, designed to enhance durability and counterfeiting resistance. Notably, this 100 Florin note was awarded IBNS Banknote of the Year 2019—a first for Aruba.

Comments

After a successful marketing campaign, the Central Bank of Aruba launched the new series on May 17, 2019, and made it available to the public on June 3, 2019. Five new banknotes, of which one has a new denomination, were issued after years of intensive preparations and close cooperation with various local stakeholders, including the commercial banks, as well as international suppliers of banknote paper, security features and equipment. The result is quite astonishing. The public can now explore the 10, 25, 50, 100 and 200 florin banknotes in a new vertical format – each with beautiful artistic elements from the Aruban culture, flora and fauna. These are the most secure banknote features available, with features such as high-relief printing, color-changing ink, MOTION SURFACE®, a 3D moving stripe with miniaturized micro-optics from Crane Currency, which also printed the new series.
