The 1000 Taka banknote, issued on 27 October 2008 by the Bangladesh Bank, commemorates the Shaheed Minar, the national monument dedicated to those who died during the Bengali Language Movement protests of 1952. The obverse features the Shaheed Minar in Dhaka, while the reverse depicts Curzon Hall, a historic building at the University of Dhaka. This note is printed on durable paper with advanced security features, including a windowed security thread with demetalized Bengali text, a watermark of the Shapla (water lily) with the Bangladesh Bank’s monogram and the number “1000”, and intaglio printing for tactile security. The dimensions of the note are 160 x 70 mm. It is signed by Dr. Atiur Rahman, the then Governor of Bangladesh Bank.
