Issued in 1998 by the National Bank of Belarus, this 5000 Rubles banknote belongs to the late 1990s series. The obverse features an engraving of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, one of Europe’s oldest forests and a UNESCO World Heritage site, symbolizing Belarus’s natural heritage. The image is presented with detailed line work and subtle color tones.

The reverse depicts the Pahonia coat of arms, showing the mounted knight with sword and shield surrounded by traditional ornamental designs. Trinity Suburb (Trinity Hill, or Trajeckaje pradmiescie) is a historical district of Minsk located in the north-eastern part of the historical centre on the left bank of the Svislach river. It was the trade and administrative centre of the capital of Belarus in the past.

The Pahonia is the historical Coat of Arms of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, but it was also the official emblem of the Republic of Belarus from 1991 to 1995.
