Issued in 1998 by the National Bank of Belarus, this 5000 Rubles banknote belongs to the late 1990s series. The obverse features an engraving of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, one of Europe’s oldest forests and a UNESCO World Heritage site, symbolizing Belarus’s natural heritage. The image is presented with detailed line work and subtle color tones.
The reverse depicts the Pahonia coat of arms, showing the mounted knight with sword and shield surrounded by traditional ornamental designs. The banknote is printed on 100% cotton paper and includes a watermark corresponding to the obverse image, a security thread, and red UV-fluorescent fibers for protection against counterfeiting.
Measuring 150 × 69 mm, this note was used until the currency redenomination in 2000.
