Issued on 10 April 2018 by the Central Bank of Bolivia as part of the Series A banknote family, this note features on the obverse a portrait of Eduardo Abaroa, Bolivia’s national hero of the War of the Pacific, alongside an image of the Sajama volcano, the country’s highest peak. The design incorporates traditional Andean patterns and bold security color schemes.
On the reverse, it portrays the Mallku Amauta’s llama path, including a stylized representation of the Andean mountain cat and the Torcería de Tarabuco textile motif. The note is printed on cotton-polymer blend paper and includes security features such as a windowed metallic security thread with demetalized “50 Bs.” and “Abaroa,” a watermark of Eduardo Abaroa, microprinted text, UV-fluorescent fibers, and a SPARK® dynamic ink llama silhouette visible under angled light.
The banknote measures 140 × 70 mm and is primarily in shades of deep blue and purple.
