Burundi 100 Francs 2011

Issued on 1 September 2011 by the Banque de la République du Burundi, this 100 Francs banknote features on the obverse a portrait of Prince Louis Rwagasore, a key figure in Burundi’s struggle for independence. Also shown is the Independence Monument located in Bujumbura. The background features geometric security patterns and bilingual text in Kirundi and French.

The reverse depicts a construction scene with workers building a cinder-block house, symbolizing national development. A banana tree and the coat of arms of Burundi also appear prominently.

Printed on cotton-based paper, this note includes a solid security thread, a watermark of Prince Rwagasore, intaglio printing, and UV-reactive fibers.
