Issued on October 18, 2021, by the National Bank of Cambodia, this 30,000 Riels banknote commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Paris Peace Agreement and the return of King Norodom Sihanouk to Cambodia. It is the first and only circulating banknote in this denomination.
The obverse features a portrait of King Norodom Sihanouk during his speech at the peace agreement, framed by traditional Khmer decorative elements and floral motifs. The denomination “30,000” appears in both Khmer and Arabic numerals, along with inscriptions warning against counterfeiting.
The reverse depicts King Norodom Sihanouk with Prime Minister Hun Sen inside the Royal Palace, the Eiffel Tower symbolizing the Paris negotiations, and the Independence Monument of Phnom Penh representing Cambodia’s sovereignty.
Security features include a 4 mm-wide windowed security thread, a holographic foil stripe, a color-shifting ink feature, a watermark of the Victory Monument, a clear window with a lotus flower design, microprinting, raised tactile printing, and UV-reactive elements.
The banknote measures 170 × 75 mm and is cataloged under Pick number P‑72.
