The obverse features a portrait of José Martí (1853–1895), Cuba’s national hero, poet, and revolutionary leader, with decorative guilloché patterns and the denomination in numerals and words.
The reverse depicts the University of Havana, representing Cuba’s educational heritage, along with additional national motifs and ornamental designs.
Printed on cotton-based paper, the banknote includes a José Martí watermark, security thread, and microprinting for anti-counterfeiting.
