The 1 Dalasi banknote issued between 1972 and 1986 by the Central Bank of The Gambia marks the introduction of the Dalasi after replacing the Gambian Pound.
The obverse features a portrait of Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, the first President of The Gambia, along with the national coat of arms and inscriptions in English. Security elements include intricate guilloche patterns and microtext.
The reverse depicts a peanut harvesting scene, representing one of the country’s key agricultural resources and a cornerstone of the Gambian economy.
Printed on paper with a solid security thread and watermark of Sir Dawda Jawara.
