The 1 Pound 1965–1970 banknote was issued by the Currency Board of The Gambia shortly after independence in 1965, before the Dalasi replaced the Pound in 1971.
The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the tiara of the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland, accompanied by the coat of arms of The Gambia and floral motifs.
The reverse displays a river scene with a boat on the Gambia River, symbolizing trade and transport in the country.
The note is printed on paper with a security thread and a watermark of Queen Elizabeth II.
