The 5 Lari 1993 banknote belongs to the first lari issue by the National Bank of Georgia, introduced after the country’s independence.
The obverse features Georgian ornamental designs and abstract motifs symbolizing the nation’s heritage.
The reverse continues with traditional patterns and decorative elements inspired by medieval art and architecture, a hallmark of early Georgian banknote designs.
The note was printed on simple paper with limited security features, mainly guilloché patterns, and was soon replaced as Georgia refined its currency system.
