The 5 Cedis 2019 banknote is part of the regular currency series issued by the Bank of Ghana. Unlike the 2017 commemorative note, this version is printed on polymer substrate, making it more durable and resistant to wear.
The obverse features a portrait of Dr. James Kwegyir Aggrey, alongside the Bank of Ghana crest, security features such as a transparent window, microtext, and a watermark.
The reverse illustrates the University of Ghana’s Balme Library in Accra, representing education and intellectual advancement in the country.
