Issued by the Banco Nacional de Guinea Ecuatorial in 1979, this 100 Bipkwele banknote is part of the early post-independence currency series following Equatorial Guinea’s independence from Spain in 1968.
The obverse features a portrait of President Francisco Macías Nguema, the country’s first president, along with guilloche patterns, denomination numerals, and security elements.
The reverse depicts agricultural and national symbols, reflecting the country’s economic focus and cultural heritage during the late 1970s, complemented by decorative borders and repeated denomination motifs.
