Issued by the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran from 1985 through the early 2000s, this long-running 100 Rials banknote series retained the same overall design throughout its circulation period. It reflects the post-revolution style that emphasised cultural heritage, education, and traditional Persian aesthetics.
The obverse features the Tomb of Hafez in Shiraz, honouring the renowned Persian poet. The design includes floral ornaments, Persian geometric motifs, and clear denomination numerals.
The reverse shows the central courtyard of Tehran University, symbolising knowledge, cultural development, and national progress. The layout is complemented by guilloché patterns and ornamental borders.
