Issued by the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran between 1982 and the mid-2000s, this 200 Rials banknote remained in circulation for more than two decades. Its design reflects early post-revolution themes, highlighting cultural heritage and national development.
The obverse features the Tomb of Saadi in Shiraz, dedicated to the famous Persian poet. The scene is framed by intricate Persian floral and geometric patterns, along with clear denomination numerals.
The reverse depicts the Abadan Refinery, one of Iran’s most important industrial complexes. This illustration symbolises the country’s energy sector and economic strength, surrounded by guilloché ornamentation.
