The obverse features the Great Mosque of Samarra’s spiral minaret (Malwiya Tower), an iconic Abbasid landmark known for its unique stepped design, surrounded by detailed guilloché patterns and modern security elements.
The reverse depicts a traditional astrolabe, representing Iraq’s scientific contributions during the Islamic Golden Age, with ornamental motifs and repeated denomination designs.
