Issued in 1980 by the Banco Central do Brasil, this 10 Cruzeiros banknote is part of the final series of the Cruzeiro currency before the introduction of the Cruzado. The obverse features a portrait of Dom Pedro II, Brazil’s second and last emperor, set within intricate guilloché patterns in gray and purple tones.
The reverse showcases a depiction of the Statue of the Prophet Daniel, sculpted by Antônio Francisco Lisboa (Aleijadinho), symbolizing Brazil’s cultural heritage. The note is printed on cotton-based paper and includes a watermark of Dom Pedro II’s profile, microprinted repeating “Banco Central” text, and delicate underprint line patterns. It does not include a security thread.
