Issued on October 7, 2019, by the National Bank of Cambodia, this 15,000 Riels banknote commemorates the 15th anniversary of the coronation of King Norodom Sihamoni. It is Cambodia’s first note printed on hybrid polymer–cotton substrate (Durasafe®), combining durability with enhanced security features.
The obverse features a youthful portrait of King Norodom Sihamoni in ceremonial attire, a finely detailed seven-headed naga, and the Royal Coat of Arms. It includes inscriptions in both Khmer and English, as well as a transparent window and a 4 mm-wide security thread with demetalized text “15000”.
The reverse depicts the King alongside his parents, King Norodom Sihanouk and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath, during the coronation ceremony. Also shown are the Win-Win Monument and a sculpture of a three-headed elephant carrying a garuda with a swan, rich in royal symbolism. The note also features microtext, intaglio printing, and a watermark with the King’s portrait and floral designs.
