Issued on August 7, 1980, by the Banco de la República, this 10 Pesos Oro banknote was part of the late “Peso Oro” era, printed before the currency reform removed the “Oro” designation. The obverse features a portrait of Antonio Nariño, a key figure in Colombia’s independence movement, with a Andean condor perched beside the denomination. An ornate multicolor underprint includes purple, slate blue, green hues, and guilloché patterns.

The reverse depicts monolithic sculptures from the San Agustín Archaeological Park, celebrating Colombia’s indigenous heritage. The seal of the bank is displayed at the top, and denomination texts appear in bold lettering.

Printed on cotton-based paper, this note measures approximately 140 × 70 mm. It includes two segmented security threads and serial numbers in red ink. A watermark is not present, consistent with other Peso Oro notes of the era. This issue bears signatures of Rafael Gama Quijano and Francisco J. Ortega and is cataloged under Pick number P‑407h.
