Released by the Banco de la República in 2017, this polymer banknote features on its obverse the portrait of Virginia Gutiérrez de Pineda, a renowned Colombian anthropologist, with colorful patterns inspired by Colombian biodiversity.
The reverse presents imagery related to family and cultural heritage, including native plants and symbolic motifs reflecting Gutiérrez de Pineda’s research. Printed on durable polymer, it measures 143 × 66 mm and includes transparent windows, color-shifting ink, microtext, and tactile marks for the visually impaired.
