The 2 Krooni 1992 banknote was issued by the Bank of Estonia shortly after the country regained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, as part of the new national currency series.
The obverse features a portrait of Karl Ernst von Baer (1792–1876), a renowned Baltic German scientist and naturalist, considered one of the founders of embryology.
The reverse depicts a stylized microscope and embryological diagrams, reflecting von Baer’s contributions to science and research.
The note is printed on cotton-based paper and includes a watermark with von Baer’s portrait, microprinting, and other security features.
