Issued by the Central Bank of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in 2006, this 5000 Won banknote is part of the modern series highlighting national achievements and socialist ideals.
The obverse features a portrait of a North Korean worker holding a tool, symbolizing diligence, patriotism, and the spirit of labor. Guilloché patterns and inscriptions in Hangul frame the design, with the national emblem prominently displayed.
The reverse depicts an industrial and agricultural landscape, showcasing factories, smokestacks, and farmland to reflect economic self-reliance and development. Printed on cotton-based paper, the note measures 165 × 70 mm and includes a geometric watermark for security.
