Historical Background
The 2024 Series commemorates both the 50th anniversary of the Banco de Moçambique and the 45th anniversary of the Metical. Unlike the previous 2011–2017 series, whose reverse focused on wildlife, the new family highlights different sectors of the Mozambican economy. The 100 Meticais denomination represents the theme “Real Economy”, emphasizing agriculture and food production.
