Namibia 60 Dollars Hage Geingob Commemorative 2025 Pick 19 Polymer UNC Banknote

The Namibia 60 Dollars 2025 Pick 19 is a special commemorative banknote issued by the Bank of Namibia to honour the life and legacy of Dr. Hage Gottfried Geingob, Namibia’s third President.

Officially issued on 17 March 2025, the unusual N$60 denomination was deliberately selected to represent Geingob’s approximately 60 years of service and commitment to Namibia. Unlike Namibia’s regular circulating denominations, this was conceived as a special commemorative issue while remaining legal tender.

Produced on polymer and presented here in UNC (Uncirculated) condition, it is one of the most distinctive modern commemorative banknotes issued in Africa.

Historical Background

Hage Geingob (1941–2024) played a central role in Namibia’s modern political history. He chaired the Constituent Assembly that drafted Namibia’s Constitution, became the country’s first Prime Minister following independence and later served as the third President of Namibia from 2015 until his death in 2024.

The Bank of Namibia unveiled the N$60 note on 5 March 2025, describing it as a lasting tribute to Geingob’s contributions to democracy, economic progress and social inclusion. It entered circulation twelve days later, on 17 March 2025.

Why Add This Banknote to Your Collection?

The Namibia 60 Dollars Hage Geingob 2025 Pick 19 Polymer UNC banknote stands apart from Namibia’s regular currency because of its unusual denomination, commemorative purpose and advanced polymer design.

Perfect for:

  • Namibia banknote collections
  • African currency collections
  • Commemorative banknotes
  • Polymer banknotes
  • Unusual denominations
  • Political leader banknotes
  • New 2025 banknote issues
  • Modern world currency
  • UNC banknote collections

Collector’s Note

The Pick 19 is particularly significant because 60 Dollars is not a regular Namibian denomination. The value was specifically selected to symbolize Hage Geingob’s roughly six decades of service to Namibia, making the denomination itself part of the commemorative message.

The issue was limited to 2 million notes, and the Bank of Namibia described it as both legal tender and a collector’s item.

It also occupies an interesting position in Namibia’s modern catalogue: P-19 precedes the country’s new regular banknote generation beginning with P-20, making it a natural bridge between the previous series and the redesigned 2025 family.
