The 200 Birr 2020 banknote was issued by the National Bank of Ethiopia as part of the updated series of Ethiopian birr notes.
The obverse features a portrait of Emperor Menelik II (1844–1913), celebrated for his leadership in preserving Ethiopia’s independence and promoting modernization.
The reverse depicts Mount Ras Dashen, Ethiopia’s highest peak, along with native wildlife and cultural motifs symbolizing the country’s rich natural and historical heritage.
The note is printed on cotton-based paper with a watermark of Emperor Menelik II, a security thread, and microprinting for anti-counterfeiting protection.
