Issued in 1961 by the Banco Central do Brasil, this 5 Cruzeiros banknote belongs to the transitional post‑World War II series. The obverse features a portrait of Dom Pedro II, Brazil’s second emperor, set within ornate guilloché designs in gray-blue tones, evoking imperial elegance.

The reverse depicts an allegorical figure representing Agriculture, seated with a sheaf of wheat and corn—symbols of Brazil’s agricultural wealth—framed by decorative flourishes. Printed on cotton-based paper, the note includes a watermark of Dom Pedro II’s profile and microprinted “Banco Central” text, but it does not include a security thread.

The note measures 130 × 60 mm and was withdrawn during currency reforms in the late 1960s.
